When things feel complex or stuck

You may not have clear answers yet — but you can sense something isn’t working as it should. It often shows up in ways like these:

For organisations

When your senior leadership team needs help adapting to an uncertain future

When you need to navigate the human side of AI adoption

For professionals

When you want to deepen your professional expertise using Transactional Analysis (TA)

When you want to become a more psychologically aware leader

Meet James

James Longwell, organisational development consultant, speaking at a workshop on leadership and organisational change

James Longwell is an organisational development consultant working with leaders and organisations when the usual ways of thinking are no longer enough. His work often begins where things feel unclear, pressured, or difficult to move forward.

He brings a calm, thoughtful approach to complex situations — helping people step back, reflect, and understand what is really happening.

Rather than offering quick answers, he works alongside clients to find a more effective way forward.

The work is collaborative — it is done together, in partnership with clients.

James has worked across global organisations, including Google, and across industries such as technology, media, and FMCG. He has supported senior leaders through large-scale organisational change and complex transformation.

His work is informed by the psychology of transactional analysis, which he has been practicing since 2013. He has a particular interest in how it intersects with AI in real organisational contexts.

James' work is grounded in a strong ethical and practical understanding of how organisations function.

What is Transactional Analysis (TA)?

Transactional Analysis (TA) is a humanistic and systemic psychology developed by Eric Berne in California in the 1950s and 1960s. Since then, it has evolved and is now widely used around the world.

Although it began in psychotherapy and counselling, it soon expanded into organisational and educational settings. This is where James first encountered its value.

In organisations, TA is used to explore leadership, teams, and systems, as well as the human dynamics that shape how they function.

How Transactional Analysis understands people, life, and change

  • This is one of the most fundamental assumptions.

You, I, and others all have value and dignity. I accept myself, I accept you, and I accept others. No one is above or below another.

This remains true regardless of how we define ourselves — including gender, ability, race, sexuality, neurodiversity, or any other aspect of identity.

  • People think in different ways and at different levels. All ways of thinking are valid. This is part of how people make sense of their experience.

  • People have the capacity to shape their lives through the decisions they make. These decisions are not fixed and can be changed over time.

The purpose of change is to increase autonomy. This happens by moving beyond patterns that may limit how we think or act.
